More than a month ago we began a discussion of how we at Pub Theology Lake Orion might be able to get back into the community and do a little good for our neighbors at the same time. So, instead of our usual pandemic-determined virtual conversation this week, we’re going to do just that.
Some of our regular discussion participants will gather tomorrow at Immanuel Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in Oxford to prepare and serve a community meal for those in need in the neighborhood and surrounding area. We plan to continue with this service project into the new year, providing the community meal at Immanuel the first Tuesday of each month.
Those who are preparing and serving the meal will gather at Immanuel at 4:15 pm. To-go meal service begins at 5:30 pm and continues until everyone is fed or we run out of food.
If you are interested in helping out, please get in touch with our discussion leader, Pete Trumbore via email at ptrumbor AT oakland.edu. If you would like to help us cover the costs of this and future meals, you can contribute financially by sending a check to St. Mary’s-in-the-Hills Episcopal Church, 2512 Josyln Court, Lake Orion, MI 48360. Just write “Pub Theology community meal” in the memo line and your donation will make it to the right place.
We will return to our regular discussions next week, Dec. 8. In the meantime, please keep our volunteers and those they will serve in your thoughts and prayers.
